Default Lexus LS Road Test (Consumer Guide Automotive)

http://consumerguideauto.howstuffwor...lexus-ls-1.htm

To summarize: High marks for acceleration, ride quality, quietness, controls, details, room/comfort (front and back), value.

Low marks for fuel economy and cargo room.

Average mark for steering/handling/braking

Seems pretty accurate, although low marks for fuel economy at first glance seems a bit funny. I hear mixed reviews about the fuel economy for this car.

I don't know what they expect for fuel mileage. On a recent road trip, my LS topped 35 mpg for the tank. My usual mileage runs in the high teens to low 20's.

Gee, did Lexus write the review...

QUIETNESS
460 460 L Executive Package 460 L Touring Package 600h L Class Average
10 10 10 10 8.5

One of the quietest cars on the market. The engine is nearly silent at idle and emits a subdued growl under aggressive acceleration. There is virtually no tire, road, or wind noise.

Wind noise? First time I hear anything about this.

Consumer Guide publishes those annual auto guide issues like Consumer Reports, but has their own set of standards and not reliability statistics IIRC.

84/100 for the LS 460 is best in class next to the identical score for the S550, and ahead of the 7, A8, etc.

I am really surprised by those Fuel Economy #s as well! Have had my 07 SWB for 1.5 years and I average 27MPG on typical highway travel, and in the high teens for mixed use. Pretty incredible for a large luxury sedan!
