Default Off-Site Service/Parts Department - Common?

I was surprised to find that my Lexus service/parts department is off-site - nearly 5 miles away. When looking at new cars at the Lexus dealership I guess I made the assumption that the building that I was in was the whole "LEXUS". I stopped by over the weekend to check on a few parts (door sills etc...) and the greeting gal told me the new facility was pure sales. I asked her what all of the folks sitting around were doing... she said ..." its such a nice lobby folks just stop by and have a drink, watch tv, read the paper..." LOL. I left the "SALES" building and got in my LS and drove the 5 miles to the Lexus Service/Parts facility and was pleasantly surprised - it was a nice, large facility and most importantly had free soft drinks and WIFI .

sounds like stevens creek

in crowded areas, sometimes they just cna't expand the dealership anymore, so they either move as a whole, or do satellite site

stevens creek service center has been opened since 2003

That also sounds like South Bay Lexus in Torrance.... I had the oil changed on my LS460 and it was $140. I don't normally take my cars to dealerships for an oil change, but i decided to see how much they were charging now. That price is a long ways away from a long time ago when i brought my 93.5 TT supra for $20 oil change at Toyota or $40 for my 2000 GS300......

But i know MB charges more than that these days.....

I've seen the MB dealer oil changes for $89. Not cheap but not $140 either.

It holds 9.1 quarts of 0W20 synthetic. You can take it to a Toyota dealership for oil changes. That's what I did and it was $90.00

The Lexus dealer is 120 miles each direction from my house and Toyota is local. They keep the filters in stock at my local Toyota dealer. If they don't have the filter, they can order it through Toyota and have it in a day or two.
I guess, you're paying for the free newspapers and soft drinks LOL!

90 bucks sounds good - First 5K is free but will have to consider Toyota for the 10K.

10K is air filters, and cabin filter as well as oil change. They can order all the parts through Toyota. That's what I plan to do as well. It's not worth the drive when I can have it done locally and for less money...
