They have a tint meter around here and you would be stopped and cited...
Craig
They got meters here which is why I went with 35%. Even if they don't meter you they can give you a Fix it ticket and make you go to an inspection place... or they can meter you and still give you one with the % on it.
The outcome
1) Fix It Ticket - Must get Car inspected.
2) Regular MV Violation - Pay or fight it.
3) Warning
4) 1+2
In my town atleast, you always see #4 get handed out.
I wonder if the tint policy applies to the rear and side window retractable shades?
I use them from time to time when the sunlight is blinding from the rear or the back sides.

as far as I know, CA law states that you can tint the rear and back window as dark as you want as long as you have 2 functioning side mirrors
the front... well, not supposed to have any tint and it's illegal for limo tint all around even in AZ, but they seriously don't pull you over for tint, that's just ridiculous consider it gets 120F here in the summer..
Windshield and fronts are illegal in Illinois, I got a special plate that allows for window tint. They jacked up the fine around here and I think its a minimum of A$250.
i have full limo tint on my 2LS and never gotten bother by the cops. not sure if being in san diego makes a difference. the most ive done to it is swap out different wheels, and everything else is pretty much stock. so i guess if you keep your car stock you should be fine
Here in TX we have annual inspections (a beatdown and another sticker on the windshield). I've had to remove tint before they would pass my inspection... had to pay for it to be removed and then had to pay again to put "legal" tint on. I just decided to keep it clean tint wise on the GS...
That is the only draw back ... not being able to see as well at night but I am getting used to it. The first couple of drives at night I found myself rolling down the windows LOL... just to be comfortable backing out of our long driveway... now that I'm used to it I just use the backup camera which is SUPER bright and all is good. IMO on a white base the darker the tint the better (look that is).
Another thing is that I have no need for my side and rear sunshade.... with the tint on I doubt we will ever use them.

When I put up my rear sunshade during the day (over my 12%) you can barely see through and if I left it up at night it would basically make the cars behind me invisible.
GM at the dealership I bought from said the "owner" recently shipped a LS over to PHX and had it Limo tinted all the way around. He said they do lots of full tint's on cars they ship out of state - with AZ being the majority.
