Or the screeching noise under hard acceleration? Is there some Yakuza guy at the test track, encouraging inspectors to plug their ears???

Its the "pursuit" of perfection. They never claimed it was perfect.

I know. It was a cheap shot, but it was easy.

They run a lean workforce, they took the wind noise abatement guys and charged them with filling the champagne glasses for the vibration test.

I've had my share of noise problems with my "flagship" LS600hL. A creaky dashboard, passenger's side window, and plastic camera cover behind the rearview mirror. I guess I can't blame the assembly guys as these seem more like design errors. But you think these problems would have been found well before production in their pursuit to perfection.

I'm not impressed at all. Toyota should spend more on their wind tunnel machine and get it fixed so they can road test cars over 40mph.

The "obsession" really is amazing. It's incredible how much time and effort goes into the LS.. However, if I were in the market for a car that offers what the traditional Lexus LS does, I'd be looking for a 2006 LS430 Ultra... Like Cadillac, who no longer makes vehicles that appeal to me, I have a feeling that even Lexus is heading in that direction.

Let's see what the NEXT LS is like. I'm really worried that it'll be more like a BMW 7-Series than a Mercedes S-Class (like it originally took after). Lexus will have entirely lost my interest at that point.

I too definitely hope Lexus keeps its LS Series focused on luxury, which it has traditionally targeted, in many ways. And while I think that the flagship plant's standards are great--I hope that the kaizen approach improves them further. With the latest models, with the added complexity, it might help to further enhance the testing process. Especially as they reportedly are ramping up production to meet demand.
