Default Navi Lockout Update

Hey all, I emailed Prestigious Society about the Navy.... Here is their e-mail

Hi Nathan,

Thank you for your inquiry on the navigation override kit.

We can get the unit for $349 + $15 shipping (CA tax applicable). It
will take about 3-4 weeks after the payment is received for the unit to
arrive from Japan.

At this point we have only confirmed the unit on 2007 LS460 that
haven't updated the navigation. We do not have 100% confirmation on whether
the unit will work for 7.1 update yet (on 2008 LS460 or 2007 LS460 and
newest software update). We have heard cases where it works and
cases where it doesn't, and have yet to find a local test car to confirm
the issue. So as of now we do not recommend the unit for 7.1.

Please also notice that for the unit to work, your LS460 needs to have
Mark Levinson audio. The unit will allow DVD playback while the car
is in motion. Moreover, even if the unit works with the current
version of navigation (or 7.1), we cannot guarantee its compatibility on
future software updates from Lexus, should you decide to update.

We will provide English installation instructions together with the
purchase of the kit. If you want custom installation, we can refer you
to our local installation guy in Orange County, he charges $150 and it
takes about 1 1/2 hour.

Thank you again for your interest, please let us know if you have other
questions or want to place an order.

I got similar feedback from them the other day. Given all the LS's in S. CA, I just can't imagine someone wouldn't volunteer to try it out. After all, if it doesn't work, you can just take it back out and not hurt your Nav.

It's a 3,000 mile round trip for me, or I'd consider driving mine over and being a guinea pig. But I may just go ahead and order it and try to do the install myself anyway. My car isn't even due in for a few days, though, and I don't know for 100% sure which version it will have.

well i guess if anyone with 08 wants to test out the, maybe they can talk to PS and see if they can be the tester. that way if the unit doesn't work you don't "lose" money. just a thought
