argh... can't decide!!

Hi all.

I really can't decide between 08 LS460SWB and 08 Porsche Cayenne V6.
I had driven all LS series since 1991 (1991, 1998, and 2005) and without a doubt, the LS is the best car in the world, period (in my honest opinion, S550 and 750Li are inferior to the LS).

But a few months ago, this Porsche Cayenne bug bit me and I can't get rid of this idea of owning a Cayenne since. I think it looks gorgeous. My concern is that I am not sure how reliable porsches are especially when I am used to the lexus reliability.

Any comments?

Since you really have a bug, there's only one way to satisfy it. I'd say go for it. I have a couple neighbors who have, or have had these, and I think they liked them.

cayenne's arent that bad as far as reliability goes....have driven a few of them.....different kind of a ride....not as smooth as a lexus..but handles better than a lexus.....i think you are in a win-win situation...either of them are a good choice!!...for the money, you do get more luxury from lexus!!

it sounds like you already know what you really want...the cayenne...however, i would choose the LS. i see you have a 750 now. is the LS a replacement for it?

hey man......now that you have two other cars already....why dont you get the cayenne now and replace the 750 later on with the ls460....since you dont have a truck in your stable....would be a nice addition...no point in having three of the same kind of rides!!

Go for the Cayenne! Especially since you have the 750...Cant wait to see what the new 7 series will lool like!

Have you driven an LS460? If not, you should before making the final decision. I consider the LS460 to be the only completely re-engineered/redesigned car LS in the series.

When my Porsche Boxster was in for service in August they gave me a Cayenne loaner. I thought that I would love it but after a weekend of it (Porsche service by the way is slow and expensive) I was convinced to never own one. It handles well but it just wasn't the right fit for me.

If you are going down this road I would highly recommend a short lease (6-12 months) as you will probably want an LS again in the very near future.

As for reliability, my '05 Boxster didn't have any unusual problems. A couple of small things but certainly nothing serious.

I have a few other questions for you...
1) is this a replacement for your LS 400?
2) do you tend to drive the LS or your 750 more?
3) what is the car going to be used for? do you need a cargo hauler (aka the porsche)?
4) I see your in CA. Do you need a 4wd vehicle for weather?
5) Which Cayenne are you looking at? the regular, S, or turbo?

If you're going to go with the cayenne, at least get the cayenne S, better upgrades.
A neighbor has one. He said he couldn't afford a carrerra, this is the closest to a porsche that he could afford:p

I like Cayennes a bunch but even with the uprated V-6, that truck NEEDS a V-8. Thus I have to say get the LS.

hey..there.
1. no it won't replace my LS400. my 98 LS400 is a keeper :D
2. i drive the LS more
3. it will be mainly for weekends
4. no need for 4WD
5. i am looking at the regular V6. i know V8s are much better but i just can't justfy spending another 10 grands for it.
