OK, I Did It. Got a 2007 Near Invoice
OK! I went to buy a 2008 but the sales manager knew I had previously been looking at a 2007 that was still there. I basically told him they'd have to make me an offer I could not refuse to take the '07. The car stickered for $67200 (or so) and I am paying $59100. Plus they gave me $28,900 for my 2004 LS with 46K miles (previously they were talking about $27,000). At that price it's almost the same as I paid for my 2004 four years ago! Granted, it is a "one year old car"...but yet it's still a new car with the full warranty. The car has 290 miles as it was used here in Pittsburgh for the US OPEN. There was an additional 3% dealer cost break since it was a promotional car. They way I figure it, that was about their profit. I drove it for 20 miles fast, slow, etc and could not hear any wind noise. Smoky Granite with grey interior. I pick it up at noon today.
I'll keep it for 3 years/45,000 miles. Figure it will be worth $31,000ish (just my estimate) versus a 2008 with 45,000 miles being worth about 3 grand more. So the difference saved upfront more than offsets the slight extra hit in deprecation in 2010 when I trade it in. Plus it's less cash tied up (they were talking about $2000 off a 2009 stickering at $500 more...or about $7000more (they wouldn't bump up my trade value for the 2008, so the net difference between the 2008 vs 2007 was $7000). I'll pick it up in 5 hours.

By the way, thank you to everyone here. This Club Lexus was tremendously helpful in navigating the whole deal. All of you who shared your experiences, prices paid, problems, etc helped me get a "value" deal that I was not otherwise getting. Thank you all again.

To answer all the above questions:
I bot at the "south" dealer, although the same person owns both North and South. To my surprise North did not wanna deal much while South did even though they are the same owner.
Yes, I did get 8 grand off, but remember this car was "slightly" used (not titled, however) at the US OPEN golf tournament this summer. Has 290 miles. I can say that it was Tiger Woods' car (I don't really know which celeb drove it, however). So the dealer had 2 more grand in it. So technically your 7 grand off is 1 grand better a deal than mine.
The config is $67,200 (give or take). Nav, comfort but no Mark. The audio seems great as-is. At under 60 grand (Mark or no Mark), I could not pass a new LS up.
By the way, I'll find it in the book sooner or later, but what does the factory recommend as the correct tire pressure, and which order (top to bottom) does the display show. There is my first "suggestion"...list "FD, FP, BD, BP" next to the tire pressure displays ("front driver, front passenger, etc).

If it smells of beer, Daly drove it.
You can tell people that Tiger drove it and liked it so much, he sold his Buick.
