Like the OP said, all those gears and only 130mph? Kind of a disappointment, but I'm sure its not too difficult to bypass that. But I would be afraid of 130mph in the LS460, with that kind of body roll, it could mean disaster lol.

Only way, removed speed limiter is buying Tom's Racing ECM upgrade.

In Japan, all the factory cars were top speed limited to 112 mph. Good thing LS460 is top speed limited to 130 mph.

Did you discover this limit driving or you read about it?

i thought the limiter was to protect you from the tires from exploding...

I read Lexus wanted to use less stiff V rated tires on the 460 to improve the ride. V's are good up to 149, but I imagine Lexus would not want to get too close to the limit. If a car manufacturer sells a 170 mph car with 150 mph tires, and some fool takes himself and others out when the tires blow, there is a strict liability rule that would expose Lexus to big time trouble, even if the fool was shown to be negligent in his actions.

On another note, I got a tuning program for my 2005 GTO that lets me change every computer controlled function of the car, including shift speeds and the speed limiter, by using my lap top computer plugged into the car’s ECU port. I raised the speed limiter from 155 to 180 just so when someone asks how fast the car will go, I say I modified it to go 180. I do not believe there is such a program for the LS, presumably because most people could care less about modding the car.

Funny, the LS clocks in at 210 in Canada. Oh yeah, metric...

Well, even if we could put in a European chip, we'd still have to move to Montana to crank it up to those speeds...

I suspect it's a warranty issue. With all the Lexus cars sold in America compared to much smaller sales in Europe, coupled with the more relaxed attitudes there, they probably don't have the appetite to test the car's MTBF limits here...
