So I would tell them to leave the glove box and throw in whatever that option is for free!

oic, that makes sense, thanks for clarification.

I recently bought a SWB and noticed that the glove compartment has a bit of give. Meaning, when it's closed, I can push it and it will move a bit. Is that normal?

Well, on some LS 430s I see that the glove box can 'give' a little IIRC.

is it flush with the rest of the dash? does it rattle? those are the questions to ask

No, it's not flush with the dash. If I push it while it's in closed position, it will move up like a quarter of an inch in.

but if it moves up another 1/4", will the bottom be flush with the lines of the dash? having a little gap and give shouldn't be an "issue". if things are super tight when they are in place, that only means rattle or squeak when they flex. that's why some give is ok. that's why i asked about if they are flush with other parts of the dash in terms of the lines flow

It 'looks' flush. I haven't had a glove compartment in a Lexus vehicle that moves though when you push it. That's why I'm curious. This is my 6th vehicle with them.

If it's flush and closes, doesn't rattle or make noise, I would leave it alone.
I agree, this is my 5th Lexus and the glove box doesn't fit like the others.

You can always compare it with another LS 460 at the dealer...

same here, i have had 3 lexus (much less than you guys, haha) and i have never seen that before. but it could be that the design of the glove box is a bit different? it's a push botton design rather than a latch. i forgot how the one in ls430 is

The LS 430 one is a latch, different design. However, there is a little 'give' if you push on the LS 430 door, but it's still secure. That said, the LS 430 one closes with a 'click' while my experience with the 460 one (dealer preview) was it closes more quietly.

yup, when i was at the dealership closing the glove, it's so smooth and quiet i had no idea it's closed already.

my guess is the new design is giving this illusion of "give"?
