Ls460 INFO (tires, software upgrade)
Really?? Are you sure... because when I had the car with the older software version, the vibration was ZERO when in "D" at a red light. The rpms were just a tad over 500.With the upgrade, I can feel the normal vibration when my arm rests at the center console and the rpms are exactly at 500 when stopped at a red light in "D" - with or without hold being used.
I took my car back to the dealer on Monday and I have demanded that they make the proper repairs or replacement to the parts that they damaged in making the repair for the wind noise and on the glove box which was never repair correctly from the start. I have also ask that they take off the Michelin HXMXM4 235 50 18 97H and put on the HXMXM4 235 50 18 97V, the car came with a V rated tire and I want a V rated or higher put back on the car.
The dealer has given me an ES350 loaner and I will be in it until the proper repairs are made to my car. I hate to say it but the ES350 is not a bad car and may be worth its price more so the LS460 being worth it's price. It would take to long to exsplain it but after driving the ES350 it is my feeling that we have been short changed with the LS460 and exsample if Lexus could put a nice soft Vinyl on the door of the ES350 why not on the LS460, personally for the price of the LS460 I do not think you should have to purchase a LS460LWB to have gotten better glass and Vynil on the door and both the LS460SWB and LWB should have had better material on the door pillars. The glove box on the ES350 puts mine to shame. I am so upset today that as much as I like my car I am about ready to just tell the dealer to buy it back and if I stay with Lexus may be I'll buy an ES350.

I feel your frustration, Mallory. If it's any consolation your travails, as shared on this board, have helped other LS 460 owners get a head's up on what they can do to improve their ownership experience.
The ES 350, current later builds, is a very good car, roomy and nice--targeted as a vehicle that is in ways better than the original 1989 LS 400. However, it does not have as many flagship features as the LS 460, which you might miss, despite seeing other issues with your current vehicle.

Coming from the ES350 myself, I can tell you that there is a huge difference in comfort, handling, performance, and workmanship between the 2 cars.
Although some of us have wind noise and rattle issues on our LS460s, the ES350 has transmission issues that cannot be resolved even after swapping out new transmissions into the car.

Mallory, they forgot to order the window stickers for my car. They located two stickers in Chicago and have them ordered. They're going to put them in the mail. Check my other thread on the window repair. I'm glad you're making them fix your car. They did not damage my car doing the window repair.

No matter, the TSIB has been applied and both the hesitation and the engine vibration seem to be gone now, so I'm a happy camper.

Agreed on a car that gets the basics done right first. That is paramount.
But when this problem arose, Mallory followed up on this issue diligently and was also the first to have the wind noise fix done (and to report it). There are other LS owners on this forum with the same issue who undoubtably found Mallory's information to be helpful. That is the gist of what I posted earlier.
That does not in any way excuse the problem, or prop up Lexus at all. Imagine if there were no CL, no way for owners to aggregate their info on the wind noise issue, and no reporting by Mallory on what the first wind noise repair was about.
It's very frustrating and unacceptable for this issue to be existing in the LS 460; the repair should have been done yesterday--better yet it should not have happened. However, those that share information on the wind noise fix, especially the first posters (who are 'testing' the repair options), are providing valuable info for other LS 460 owners IMHO.
My last point was in reference to Mallory's suggestion of switching to the ES 350, I suggested that the ES is a nice car (once the transmission issues are avoided), but it does not have the performance, luxury, tech of the LS 460. Having had an ES and an LS in the family, I can safely say that the LS is worlds ahead of the ES. And Mallory agreed with my statement.
It's a frustrating process right now, but a wind noise fix is being implemented and I hope that positive solutions will be found for everyone.
