Nav Version number?

My new LS's Nav software version is dated back early 2006. Is this the latest available? And are the maps common between the earlier gens?

Data changes everyday, so I wonder what is the frequency of updates...

I thought they have yearly updates. I've never updated mine after purchasing the vehicle...
