Well actually, it's not "just a car", at least not in my opinion. It is among the top luxury sedans available for purchase on the planet and among the very few top luxury sedans available to mere mortals who don't have the means or desire to shell out 1/3 of a million dollars or more for a car. The wind noise issue represents a flaw in the operation of the product and thus it is a big deal for many who merely wish the product to operate as it should. I don't think that Lexus' "advertising rhetoric" has exascerbated the issue. The expectation of quality in their products is more a product of the experiences of their owners over the years. It only makes sense that their flagship model should embody the epitome of the quality upon which their reputation has been built. And BTW, I hear those Lambos have a nasty wind noise around 175mph. ;-)

Contrary to some beliefs the Lemon Law does not say it has to be a mechanical failure for a manufacture to have to repurcahse or refund but after 3 or 4 failed attempts to fix a problem. In that Lexus is saying no fix at this time, have they conceded ? Just opening up conversation while we all wait this out.

With the Wind Noise fix-

they are adding insulation to the "L" models, and SWB models are getting the glass from L models PLUS insulation.

This fix cuts down on 80% of the wind noise and the owners who have had it done are very happy.

I don't have a number, but I do promise you that a legitimate fix has arrived and will be at dealers soon. Keep calling, and if that doesn't get anywhere ask to speak to your regional field rep.

The Lexus Customer Service Satisfaction Rep at my dealership is saying no fix at this time and does not say anything about glass or insulation. I have not seen one post on this sight where anyone is saying their car has been repaired so if you could get some of those owners that you know who have had the repair done to post their exsperience on this forum I am quite sure it would be appreciated. If Lexus would just send a notice of their intent in regards to this matter it would be better than nonthing but all I am seeing is just a bunch of conflicting statements being made. Your promise was made with good intent but unfortunately it does not come from Lexus.

As far as I know, the TSIB was released yesterday so it may take a few days to hit dealers. You need to call your regional Field Training Specialist and give them your phone number and tell them that you are aware that a TSIB has been released and you want to be called as soon as he hears of it.

Didn't you last posted at that sight on 06/05/2007 ? I think you made reference to Lexus and a mosquito. There is one post that states that a TSB on the wind noise could be just days away. I just found all the different comments to be interesting

My bad, too lazy to look it up... I thought you were being cynical for a minute...

I just didn't think there was a thread with 848 posts in it...

But seriously, is there?

A source at my dealer has confirmed that a TSIB for the wind noise for the SWB will be adding insulation and replacing the standard glass with the laminated side window glass (like the LWB version). I will have the TSIB performed in about a month. I don't need an actual TSIB number or other proof because I do trust my service manager.

MPLexsus301, do you have the TSB number? My crappy dealer is the largest Lex dealers on the East Coast, Ray Catena and they have not even heard of the wind noise issue complaint or fix if you can believe that.

I'm not sure how only you know of the fix but please share.....so I can do my dealers work for them.

I have the LWB model and it sounds like the all windows are not fully closed. It has nothing to do with mirror turbulence. I don't think Lex has to replace any door glass. I think they have to redesign the rubber weatherstrip that seals the glass.

Maybe Lex is doing nothing at all.........I complained in my new vehicle survey and no call or concern....After 2 BMW 7's over 15 years and only 3 months of Lex ownership who knows maybe I'll go back to BMW. I hate the look of the new 7 but the rest of the car was awesome.

I just spoke with the service manager and he confirmed that Lexus will be replacing the glass in the LS460 with the glass in the LS460L as well as performing a few other adjustments. Looks like the end of the month for the fix. Lexus could have avoided all of this by using the same glass in both cars from the very start.
