It won't take long to other car makers to use that feature - flush exhaust tips. I think it looks awesome.

Yes, I suspect that quite a few car companies will be copying Lexus LS features this time around.

I took a picture this afternoon. You guys determine yourself if it's just a cover, that's my opinion.

well the trim is on the bumper and the exhaust is on the "inside", so i guess you can say it's a cover. but basically the exhaust is a "separate" part i believe. otherwise the exhaust vibrates and you either hear a lot of rattling or you see the whole rear bumper shaking @_@

Old thread but guess thats what the search function is for. Anyways my 2 cents is that the ls looks great but the exhaust makes it look cheap.

I agree completely but I don't believe we will see BMW or Benz doing it, probably Hyundai or Kia.

how do you explain the exhaust setup on the lamborghini murcielago, a 400k car?

and i am a bit surprised, have you not seen the bmw 7 series and the mb s class since 2010? yes, they both came after the 2007 ls, look at the styling

Great point but from the rear can you clearly see the "circle" exhaust on those cars? I am not really saying that the ls is a cheap car... actually I inspire one day to be able to own one. My beef is that if that is the direction that car companies are going in my none important opinion it looks cheap and I dont like it. To clarify I like the design I don't like being able to see the cirlce behind it on the ls.

the "real" exhaust are just as hidden on all 3 cars when you look from the back. keep in mind hybrids14 took that picture with flash it seems and pretty close up. from any reasonable distance and angle from behind, it's not all that visible imho, on any of the cars

it's very noticeable on the 7-series if you're directly behind one with your headlights on

Almost all the tips that are integrated into bumpers are attached to the bumper and not the exhaust.

I checked out the new exhaust on the benz and its not as noticeable on from the rear. You have to really get down on your knees to see it. Didn't have time to head to BMW. The LS was pretty more noticeable from sitting in a vechicle behind it.

Not sure if Lexus was the first to do this on their stock part. But aftermarket industry has been doing this prior to the 4LS but point taken. I agree it does look great when done right without the "cirlce" showing.
