The bad news keeps coming.....
To replace my 2003 LS430, I have a deposit on a LS600hL, but the bad news keeps coming.....
First, it was that a SWB 600h wouldn't be available.
Now, I'm hearing that the trunk is tiny and the cost may be $140K.
I'm thinking I may just end up with an LS460. (Just?)
I guess I'll need to figure out which packages to avoid so that the trunk space isn't reduced by a rear-seat air conditioner.
(Sigh). I sure would enjoy all of that power and pizzazz of the LS600hL, not to mention the AWD which I need here in New England.

well no matter how you see it, all those stuff you read are nothing but rumors (including comments from me). so might as well sit back, relax, and wait for the car to come out and see more details yourself.
and imho
1) thank god no swb for ls600h. that's top of the line lexus, lwb for sure.
2) trunk is tiny, that's defintiely a bummer imho. especially if they have spare tire
3) 140k? we will see. if that's the price, lexus is sill

Tiny Trunk
Also, remember that the Batteries for the Hybrid are stored in the trunk. So you have the batteries and the cooler if optioned.
Between those 2 things, you might be able to carry a notebook.
The trunk on the GS450h is ridiculous.

I am not so sure about tiny trunk... people forget few things - problem in GS is packaging, and there was simply no space anywhere to put the batteries, hence GS450h being sold around the world as hard to get, limited model... It seems to me that Hybrid solution was never thought of when platform was made...
on the other hand, in RX400h, you lose no space at all, because there was enough space to put batteries somewhere... As Lexus has it in press release that LS600h will be 70% of sales of LS in Europe, I very much doubt that it will have 7cu ft trunk.
As to the 140k... thats bull crap.

An all-wheel-drive option will be added to the LS 460 in the near future.
Look for the addition of an all-wheel-drive package by early in 2007.

The LS460 and LS460 L will both be rear-wheel drive cars. All-wheel drive will not be available for the 2007 model year, which is too bad, because many people in the northern states have expressed a strong interest in that feature.

Speaks French in Russian
For some reason I always thought they were misinformed and were talking about the LS600hl. Info just didnt seem that convincing IMO. But it makes perfect sense to offer an AWD LS460.

I think there's a possibility that the media reps are mistaken too, I won't necessarily trust them 100% as reliable sources of info, although I hope they offer AWD for all new LS models, & they should make RWD available for the LS600hL as well . . .
