In the LS460, the mirrors are set further back on the door sills and not on the A pillar. This also would increase the area covered by the mirrors and reduce the blind spot as well.
As for the mirror adjustments posted above, I also have been using them after attending an advanced driver course.

I've started using this method and it's great. I modified it a bit tho...I keep my right mirror just on the edge of the rear fender because i use it for reversing (curb view). Does take some getting used to but it's amazing.
