Default How Are Advance Orders Going?

My plan (at least as of today) is to buy a 460 or 460L as soon as possible after the October 20 introduction. But, I’m not going to put down a deposit (for reasons expressed elsewhere on here.)

Every once in a while - however - my brain comes to life and I ask myself: “why on earth am I going to pay 25,000 - 40,000 *OVER*.. say .. a well equipped 50,000 Cadillac?”

I definitely WANT a 460 and love EVERYTHING I read about it! (Love its looks and interesting options.) I’m mainly considering an L, even though I now live alone since my wife of 50 years recently died. And, I probably will never haul a passenger in the rear.

It’s hard to read the market. Are there really “floods” of people dying to spend 75,000 to 90,000 on a LEXUS? The dealers will make you think that “floods” of people are standing in line to put down deposits on them. But, of course, none of us have any idea how many “really” have. And, anyway, what do those deposits actually mean .. since they are only for 500 .. and, refundable? (Not exactly solid business commitments.)

I could be wrong, but I have a feeling that many are putting down deposits as a self-important “feel good” thing, with no intention of actually buying. Again, I could be wrong.

Anyway, round and round I go! Tell me, brain, where do I stop?

From my reading and with the planned advertising blitz, this car is going to sell like mad. You won't pay much if any OVER MSRP as Lexus corporate gaurds that closely and pretty much forbids it.

It will be a hot seller, I image the new L model will fly.

Ummm, is it because you want a car that will last longer than three years?

Honestly, I think you should be asking "why on earth am I going to pay 25,000 - 40,000 *LESS*.. say .. a comprable S550 or 750i?"

Then you also have to take into consideration not only cost, but reliability, quality, and resale value.

When people look at the big picture, most will see the value in the LS, and that's why it will sell well.
