Just noticed that they have the first mag-tested real-world acceleration number for the LS460 in a gallery caption:
http://translate.google.com/translat...language_tools

"And the road performances? According to manufacturer 388 HP strong S-class is faster: In 5.4 seconds it sprintet on speed 100, the LS 460 (380 HP) is 5.7 to need."

That's quite a few ticks slower than the S550.

Default Thanks - That Worked

Thanks

That worked. The translated version didn't.

I just love the interior. I wonder what the rear seat center console will have if you do not have the DVD entertainment package. There looked like a lot of buttons in addition to the remote controls.

Lexus is saying 0 to 60mph in 5.5 sec. This article is testing to 100mph. Anyone know what the S550 is rated at to 60mpg? Must be a lot lower!!!????

Maybe the 100 quoted is not miles per hours since this is metric.

Anyone???

This is in Germany. Of course it's in metric.

MB's official 0-60mph time for the LWB S550 is 5.4 seconds, which means the SWB should do about 5.3 seconds from 0 to 60mph. The test car is a SWB S550, so the resulting 0-100kph time of 5.4 seconds sounds about right.
http://www.mbusa.com/models/features...50V&class=07_S

However, Lexus quoted "0-60mph in less than 5.5 seconds" in their PR for both the LS460 and the LS460L, which most people read as 5.3 seconds for the LS460 and 5.4 seconds for the LS460L. The test LS460 is SWB and resulted in a 5.7-second time from 0-100kph. That's a larger discrepancy from the manufacturer's number than the Mercedes.

Oh well, so much for number crunching. Let's wait for more comparos to pour in before we make a verdict.

i do hope the ls460 (l or not) will do sub 5.5 on 0-60. i think that's the minimal for them. that's what brings the ls600hl into play (imagine how fast that car would be).

and also, that would make gs460 a fast car too. if ls460 really does 5.7..... grrr....

I'm probably in the minority, but I'm assuming this is the LS460L in the video.... I am not a fan of the front. I find it extremely bland and the Grille does not interest me. I would have been happier if it appeared Silver versus black. Also, it looks kind of fat. It's just looks unusually wide. I've always been a fan of Lexus interiors, but MB (especially the S) exterior.

I like the Back and Sides of the LS, but that front end just looks 'Blah' to me.

You are not alone. I'm very interested in the new LS, but have not been blown away by the exterior pictures so far. I'm hoping the LS will look more attractive in person.

The new S-Class design is a love it or hate it. I myself have grown to like it very much. The interior of the new LS though is great

The front of the LS460 is a little dull looking especially the space between the foglights the rear looks good however.

Did anyone see the history pics they start ith the 90LS and go all the way through to the LS430. Also the 0-60 is slower because its eurospec so gear ratios are lower.

Default What are all the buttons for?

http://www.autobild.de/projektor/gal...tikel_id=11972

Anyone know what these buttons control?

This is the SWB. I guess the remote is for the DVD upgrade.

Does anyone know what the rest of the buttons are for?

The remote is for the RSES (DVD player). At the very forward end of the armrest, the controls are for the sound system, probably Mark Levinson with DVD/CD changer, etc. Just below that, controls for the memory seats, recline, etc. Underneath that, controls for the heated seats.

With all those buttons, its fortunate that the cupholders are still there, this time they pop out of the front end of the armrest like on the GS.
