Default 100,000-mile maintenance advice, please.

Howdy guys,

My 2012 460 is about to hit 100,000 miles. What maintenance should be done at this mileage? I read online about replacing coolant fluid. What else? I have a great independent shop that will be doing any work. Thanks for any and all suggestions.

The answer is in your owner's manual, with the exception of ATF replacement. Lexus, like many other companies, will have you believe it's a lifetime ATF, which is not what most transmission manufacturers would say. I would add that to the list of fluids. Off the top of my head, the fluids include coolant, brake fluid, differential oil, and of course ATF. Needless to say you should continue to keep up with oil changes using a good synthetic oil. I am a believer in 5K oil change intervals, including the filter.

Other than maintenance, make sure other things such as control arms are in good shape. Control arm bushings tend to go bad at this mileage, and besides problems in handling, they may accelerate wear in other suspension components. Also take care of any oil leaks, such as from the high-pressure fuel pump gaskets on top of the valve covers. These seem to be fairly common. If you can't inspect the car yourself, it might be worth paying the shop an hour to do it and give you a prioritized list of recommended repairs.

Thanks for your reply. All the fluids you mentioned have been replace, except for coolant. I do oil at 3,000 miles. No oil leaks seen.
What do you think about hoses? Inspect? Replace? Thanks again.

Great, your car is nicely maintained.
You can probably go 5K miles between oil changes, but I am not going to tell you to stop what you are comfortable with.
Coolant is next, then. Replace it now, and then every 50K miles.
As for the hoses, I would inspect and replace only if needed.

One more thing, check the serpentine belt. It is probably time to replace it if you haven't.
