Default Ticking sound when cold

I have a 2015 LS460 Crafted Line with 128xxx on it. It started making this clicking/tapping sound when cold and goes away after a few minutes. This is my 3rd LS and the other 2 got to 150k without any issues.

Does anyone know what this sound is? It has been getting worse. It goes away for a couple seconds then comes back for a couple seconds.

Thank You for your help

Not sure what it is. On an older car I would guess it's a tappet that's making noise because oil isn't flowing well yet. Not even sure if your car has tappets. If you take off the engine cover and put the butt end of a large screwdrive to your ear you can put the tip of the screwdriver on various components until you find it. Shouldn't take long.

That's timing chain rattle due to a failing tensioner, you should search on the ISF forums to see what those guys did about it. This pdf describes the issue.

Thank you, that's what I was afraid of. It just sounded a lot different than other tensioner failures.
