I used insulating foam inside the sheet metal after pulling the door panel yesterday and got rid of the sound. It is gone. I will be adding a bit extra for good measure today and will post pictures with the locations I placed foam.
I was never looking for the cone of silence, I was only looking to stop an high pitched whistle from entering the cabin and hitting me directly in the left ear during a crosswind which I have now achieved. Lexus was having to buy back cars over this if you recall.
I got it. Pics coming soon. When I originally test drove this car it was beautiful and I had it for an hour but I did not get hit with the crosswind necessary to create this sound. It's all over now and I am so pleased.
I am confident that you can do an adequate repair of the detached trim from the outside, without removing the door panel. I repaired mine without removing the door panel and many have fixed theirs that way too. Yes, Lexus bought back many cars, probably more than a thousand, for the “wind noise” problem. I still look at LS460/600s when I walk through parking lots to see if they have the trim defect - found one just yesterday.
Congratulations on your successful repair. I admire your persistence. I know you will enjoy your QUIET car.

What a lovely car now, I had no idea LOL
I really appreciate all your hard work and persistence on the topic, goes to show that 2013+ cars can get it too.
Also, to anyone who does not have the issue and wants to come in and say "calm down" to people? You really have to hear it to understand how annoying it is. It is a one of a kind irritation. Lexus is just lucky that most of the original buyers were at an age where many had lost their hearing.

Sometimes you have to foam the door, the external fix is usually enough but not always. I had to foam one of my doors but the other was okay.
I mean they should be....they are flagships and their rivals are certainly able to be silent. A working 460 is one of the quietest cars at speed ever
Once you get the doors foamed up and the window trim siliconed right...not to mention all the suspension knocks and squeaks people are always trying to repair. I really like my car and it is mostly quiet but I have reasonable expectations from a 10 yr old car.

This was not about age, they were coming like this from the factory. When the crosswind hits it pops your ears an older car is fine, I have been buying Lexus vehicles at the 10 year old mark for a bit now. This was a whole different can of worms.
What an excellent result! Looking forward to photos of your fix
May as well get started by doing the JMcRaney trim fix first though and make it a proper job, I have seen a lot of shortcuts on this forum. Even my first attempt was lacking.
Mine has a bit of wind noise but nothing like what I heard in your imgur link. I was considering trying the JMcRaney fix but also thought about getting some of those new triangle trim pieces with the little wing on them.

Oh I replaced all my front suspension and all driveline mounts the week after I bought the car so that's all done on mine already.
Also replaced the rad and checked chains OE Aftermarket
Its been 20k of uneventful usage now as my wife's daily driver, I stopped driving it and it sat for 3 months when I bought the W12 so I figured someone might as well use it.
It's been the 2nd worst car I've owned in terms of what it needed and overall costs. The LS430 was the worst by far but both are exceptional cars overall and totally worth the annoyance.

The “finned” triangle trim pieces do not provide any advantage as to wind noise in the LS460s or LS600s.
The noise in mine sounds like it's coming from the corner of the door near the B pillar, and the rubber trim in that corner doesn't look like it's lined up perfectly

I remember all the work you did on that car, I'm not that dedicated haha. It would be nice if they made a tacoma with a 5.7
