If the air was coming into your car the source would be easy to find the source, wind noise if that's what you have is air leaving the car with a few exceptions. I chased a wind noise for a couple months that sounded like it was coming from different areas depending on where you sat, it was a BJ60 Landcruiser diesel so you know the wind noise had to be loud...anyway it turned out to be a dent in the front of the roof rack that was howling.
Don't get stuck on a symptom or a fix just because it's a popular topic, everyone raves about the ML sound in these cars why not just turn it up and relax.

There is so much turbulence next to my ear that I don’t feel relaxed, I don’t like having a vortex next to my head. I am okay with it being a 10 year old car, I am okay with this or that not being to brand new spec.

If you don’t have the issue it is easy to tell someone to relax but seriously it’s like that water torture where they drip it in your forehead sometimes. I have owned a ton of cars and solved a lot of problems and no matter what I throw at this, I can’t make it stop.

Also I am in a thread specifically created for people who are not relaxed about this wind noise.

Look at SLOANWHALE posts. there are multiple potential sources. Try taping some off to see if you can eliminate sources. Try totally covering entire side mirror as it has a door hole for wiring.

You said it's by your ear? That doesn't sound like the triangle issue by the side mirror.

Wind noise is notoriously difficult to pinpoint by ear. So, any "guess" by the owner is likely inaccurate. The taping of areas, one at a time, is more accurate, but not perfect.

You can see my thread here

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...-a-chance.html

Even after all this I am still chasing this. The vortex sounds like it is happening right at the triangle trim, like a ball of wind between the mirror and the door. Still have all the classic symptoms too:

- Gusting sound when turning right
- Gusting sound when hit with a cross wind from passenger to driver
- Constant wind turbulence over 60mph

Sometimes I will get hit with a gusting sound right there at the mirror and I could swear it even steers the car a bit. It is the WORST and if I can't solve it I may need to consider another vehicle.

In that thread you linked to you concluded the problem was fixed and it was the triangle trim piece, I believe Jmcraney mentioned that it might have to be redone at some point in time.

I redid it soup to nuts this week and sadly I remain in the vortex. The jmcraney fix made it much better but there remains a constant wind turbulence between the mirror and the triangle trim piece even after the second fix

I am finding some relief working down here so I will be investigating further

On most of the LS460s and LS600s with the detached-trim-wind-noise problem, the trim on both the driver’s door and the passenger door was detached and contributing to the problem. You need to repair both doors to get the best results.

Hello, were you able to resolve your issue? I am having similar symptoms so curious if a fix is found.
