Default Black screen on the display

I have a 2009 Lexus Ls 460. I smelled something burning the other morning when I got off work. Didn't think anything of it. But later that day I got in and started the car and the software downloading screen came up loaded and the display went black. So I cut my car off and started it up again. The same thing happened again. Anybody know wants happening or what I need to do to fix it?

The unit needs to come out and get sent off for repair or a replacement with a used unit. New is crazy expensive. There are several companies who do this. United Radio is one. There are several threads here about the unit failing. There are some aftermarket units on the market but are hit or miss with fitment and especially with plug and play ability/lack of correct adapters.
