2016 LS460 L purchase
Thanks guys! I will be checking it out tomorrow, and hopefully purchasing it too. Realistically it should probably also be sent to Lexus for a PPI. Feeling like skipping that though due to the hassle and good history.
The selling dealer wants another week with it to take care of curbed wheels and complete their standard process.
Correct - no air suspension on this one. After seeing the prices for repairing air suspension on the 460, I wish it DID have air. The repairs seem very reasonable IMO.
I recently spent a week driving a W222 S-Class and the ride is sublime on virtually all surfaces. I recall the last LWB 460 I drove (on coils) being excellent - certainly no dealbreaker there. LS500 on air didn't even seem competitive with the latter two.

Test drove the car and it was fantastic! Very quiet. That rear laminated glass makes a world of difference. I even listened for the injectors but did not hear them like in older models. The ride was very comfortable, not S-Class level , but still excellent on many surfaces.
It didn't have the rear side window sunshades (boo), but it unexpectedly had soft close doors (I'll take that!).
All in all, it really felt almost like a new car without the new car smell.
The dealer (Mercedes) put it on a lift for me and did an inspection with a master mechanic. He seemed pretty candid. We looked at all of the suspension arms, bearings, and bushings.
Again, it looked like the underside of an almost new car. There were no visble wear marks or cracks in any of the suspension parts, no oil stains anywhere (that we could see), and almost zero rust.
Another note on the test drive, I'm used to fast vehicles (have owned powerful EVs, performance ICE cars, etc.) and and never really punched an LS before. This thing can boogie when it needs to. It's not a performance car, but acceleration is satisfying.
So yep, I bought it!
Thanks again for the input and advice. Glad to have found a group of people that are as passionate as I am about quiet vehicles!

Congrats on the car and I wish you good luck with it!
It's funny I just started to read this whole thread now and I was thinking you could probably skip a PPI due to the extensive service records. I was only going to suggest you take a careful look underneath and take a test drive, but you already did that.
And yes, as Spartan said, pics please.

Nice! I'm looking at a 2013-2014, but it's difficult finding one in my color combo with the ML, 19" wheels, shamimoku wood, etc. The L's are HUGE! I went to look at one to drive at a small "luxury" car lot. (Think old beat up luxury cars with 200k on them). This was a 13 with 192k. I wasn't going to buy it, just drive it. Unfortunately, it was so crammed in with other cars that I couldn't drive it. I sat in the backseat, and it was like a living room or being in the back of a limo! Then, I though, how often would I be riding in the backseat of my own car. This one was beat up pretty badly too.
I see you're in TX, so there's a decent supply of those in the DFW and Houston area. Lots of big Lexus dealers out there--Park Place, Sewell, etc.
Yes, post pics of yours!

Photos coming next week (hopefully)! They still need to correct some minor paint issues.
LSs cars are probably everywhere in DFW.
You're spot on about the dealers - the Lexus in Grapevine is absolutely enormous, with Mercedes Benz, Porsche, BMW, Cadillac, and others all on the same block.
I've found LWB vehicles offer the best ride and quietness. Out on the open highway size isn't an issue. Around town I ride my bike a lot anyway.
Funnily enough I had confidence to park my F-150 anywhere it would fit with just a few inches to spare, thanks to the 360 camera system.

Now time to check out this thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...your-ls-8.html
Thanks, I love this reply. We're on the same page. I don't need the best possible ride, but I do want a super quiet car.
Been looking for a couple months and this is by far the best I've found. I plan to keep it for a few years and then move to another EV, on an 800v platform.

I only regret not seeking out an LS460 L with air suspension, and may even trade if one pops up. Air reduces vibration and road noise further and is standard on the S-Class. S-Class in my experience has less road noise than the LS.
EVs measure quiet in general but having owned six of them I grew to hate the piercing high frequency drivetrain noises. When they eliminate those noises I'll happily buy another.
I think it's also important to recognize that all cars have noise and none are truly library "silent" as reviewers may say. In my LS I can really enjoy music on the highway and feel refreshed after long trips.
--Just saw your edit. I owned an inline 6 X3 and found it to be quite pleasant on the highway I think BMW does a good job with NVH these days. My advice is to test everything you can and go with your gut.

In your search did you find any close runners up to the LS model in the price class? I'm researching for road noise isolation too, but the only models I haven't read having cabin noise complaints are the LS460 and Mercedes S-Class. Did you drive or find anything about lower priced models, or other brands like Lincoln or BMW?
