I am having a failed front parking sensor(s) on my 10 LS460L. The display shows the "0" (with line across it) in the middle of the front bumper. Does this mean one of the two middle sensors is bad?
Are the sensors a common failure? I have only owned a Lexus for a year and have this and have had two tire sensors go bad! The back lighting for some of the center buttons beside the navigation screen also burned out.
Am I being too critical in being disappointed? I drove exclusively MB for 35 years. My LS has only 87,000 miles /been dealer serviced exclusively!
Chances are the MBs you drove weren't as electronically sophisticated as todays cars, even newer MB and of course Lexus. Your car is 13 years old and will have parts fail. Tire sensors have a battery that dies, perfectly normal. The backlighting is a common enough failure, the unit needs to be removed and sent out for repair, there are several companies that do this. Suggest that you understand that dealer service is the most expensive and there are alternatives. With the bumper sensors, I believe that a Lexus capable OBD2 code reader will tell you the issue. An independent shop that knows Lexus/Toyota can help you with that. BTW, expect the other three tire sensors to die soon. You must replace the spare tire sensor as well as all must work. Hope this helps.
