Default remote key...wireless key ..smart key problems

sorry, what ever you call the key fob and ignition switch combo.

it just stopped working....tried 2 new batteries in keyfob ....well they were 2 batteries laying in a drawer for over 2 years. i am 2 cheap to by an new one in a package from the store

my question: how many times can i start car by inserting key fob itself in ignition switch before that starts working

i used to start cars all the time with a key before the electronic keys

Did someone accidentally press the smart key disable button under the dash?

Either the SmartKey has been disabled (button in footwell under the steering wheel) or else you need to buy a new quality battery for the fob.
Also make certain that you have the fob battery the correct way around.

You can start the car indefinitely by putting the SmartKey in the ignition and turning it.
That uses RFID to disable the Immobiliser and allow starting the engine, so does not need the fob battery.
