Premium sound system dash tweeter removal and new tweeters.
Well, I just removed my driver side dash tweeter from upside with Dremel using Dremel 225 flex shaft extension and high performance Tungsten Carbide Carving Bit (9901DM). It wasn't fast or easy but with patience it is possible to carve the tweeter plastic horn to bits and make enough room to wiggle and lift the tweeter itself out from the hole. Protect the windshield before carving! I will install aftermarket tweeters and use the original wiring. I took some photos since I did not find much information about this subject. So, you don't have to necessarily disassemble the dash to get the tweeters out. I'm replacing the whole sound system.
Half of the plastic horn removed.
Almost all of the plastic horn removed.
Tweeter is pulled out of the dash.
Tweeter is out and the dash cavity is open and wiring ready to be used for new tweeter.

It looks like whatever cover is on the tweeter must be glued or screwed on, so why can't it be levered off?
The plastic sound directing horn is part of the plastic structure that won't fit to come out from the hole, it must be cut to pieces to get it out. Tweeter is mounted also to this plastic structure with three mounting screws. After cutting the horn to pieces, you can reach two of these mounting screws with screwdriver, you must break the plastic around the third one. They can be also twisted with pliers to cut the plastic around them to get them out. I used pliers also to get the plastic pieces out.
I modified oem grilles with Dremel and glued new Audison AV 1.1 dome tweeters to the grills with installation cups. Tweeters can be pushed out from the cups if need arises. Installation looks very stock and i'm happy with the result. Some pics below.
Plastic frame needed carving to accommodate new tweeters and installation cups.
Be careful not to cut too much plastic out. Don't rush.
New tweeters with plastic installation cups.
I used sealing/bonding glue to attach the installation cups to the old plastic frame.
New Audison tweeters in place.
OEM grilles installed, I think it looks good and stock. Happy with the result.
