Yes... 30 big ones is certainly not out of the question for a low mileage Cali car. The current price means nothing. As mentioned above... the last 10 minutes will bring the price to reality. No one is stealing this one!
Tell me about it.
Only been to a few auctions and that fast talking auctioneer gets me all hyped up and I ALWAYS have buyers remorse and pay way more than I normally would in heat of moment.
Like mentioned above I can see some last minute bid fights maybe, just guessing tho.
The exact same car; year, color, and ML package, 45k miles, one owner.
One accident on Carfax, but you would have to see details. My car's carfax had 2 accidents reported.....I took care of it with $300 in paintless dent removal. Some people will report a shopping cart hitting their car.

Also looks to be a nice example and certainly is a viable comp, great find. That said, the BAT still has the edge in my opinion by a decent margin: SoCal car (huge in my opinion), dealer serviced (didn't see link to history, probably didn't look hard enough on the MD link so it could be apples to apples), BAT forum vs. CarGurus, and yes, I 100% agree with you on the CarFax "damage reported", could have been a very very small hummingbird ran into the bumper and chipped it. But, there is still the "stamp" on the report, and that stamp will hurt this car for the rest of its life to one degree or another. Some, especially BAT people, would pay thousands more for a car without that stamp than an identical one with it, even if the stamp was known to be completely false and a mistake by Carfax. Negative marks on history reports are worth research and assessing whether or not it was actually a big deal in the real world, and often shouldn't impact a car's value in my opinion. In forums like BAT, those marks play a bigger role. All of this is just my opinion though spending some time on BAT and having bought and sold way too many cars (wish I had a different/cheaper hobby).
That MD car at $ 19K would, in theory, constrain the top end of the price of the BaT car, but for some reason BaT prices can surge way above market. I don't get it.

If it was an apples to apples car, yes it would. It is close in mileage and condition, but not in other factors that mean a lot to the BAT community (So Cal vs. PA/MD car, dealer service history (not sure if MD car has it)). Agree with you, sometimes the BAT prices are astounding. It's a different forum, a lot of people with a lot of money (not all, but a lot) who love cars and love to have fun out bidding each other for fun, just because they can. Heck, the person who ends up buying the BAT LS may not have even logged on to find an LS or know anything about them. I know a gent in Newport who buys and eventually sells cars from BAT or elsewhere that cost hundreds of thousands. He loves cars, something catches his eye, he keeps it in his 25 car underground Newport garage for a few months to a year, then sells it through his friends network or however. Sometimes he won't even drive it because he has so many. There are a lot of people like him on BAT. Someone may buy this LS just to take on one road trip so they don't have to risk a chip in their RR Phantom's paint job... It sounds lovely !
Here in the UK we currently have an 04 @31k miles for £12k ($15k) which in my opinion is overpriced for the UK market. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/195076240399
4 years ago I paid £4400 for my 04 @91k miles.

Nice car, Boomer. Pretty rare to have silver on Cashmere or Ecru, and though no interior pics (???), you can see the interior a bit. Silver is very striking on the 18's, and factory mudguards!!! I think those are long obsolete, and its a trick to find them.
I don't know if ya'll started taking bets yet but I'm gonna throw out a number. Just for fun why not put a number on it and see who's closest to what it sells for.
Just a total guess from info everyone posted above...
My bet is on $23,500k.
What ya'lls bet???

The mudguards are standard fitment on all facelift LS430s over here. Mine has them and I can't find any pics of UK spec 04-06 models without them.
I think they were an option on the 00-03 UK models and are probably less necessary in the US as it rains less there, except in the Pacific North Wet. ;-)
Oh, and put me down for $28500 in the "guess what it goes for" sweepstakes. :-)
