My ls430 needs some work on a buzzing sound occasionally (like a vibrating) esp. when warmed up and idling when the front angled up especially (slight hill), and a slight rattling when accelerating 25-40mph at times, like a distant bowling ball rolling. . Last April I brought it to a dealer and they were going to remove a heat shield but then said they added felt to it instead?? It seemed to help the deep rattling only for a while but not the buzzing, which they only after told me they did not hear (I should record the buzzing but the rattling is more subtle, like quiet deep thudding for a couple of seconds).. Both sounds seem to from rear or rear right and perhaps relate exhaust work 2+ years ago.

Anyway, I am tired of going to dealer. for a multitude of reasons. Can anyone recommend a really good mechanic on eastern Long Island by chance (or anywhere on Long Island)? Preferably with suspension/exhaust expertise? Familiarity with Lexus even better...Someone who wants to check out car as a whole and find/fix a noise, or can handle day when I need to replace my air suspension someday without trashing the car, etc. My care has been very reliable but it is not young and can use the TLC of a competent technician...2005 Ultra...145k miles.
