Default Sub woofer repair

They just pop out on the front. Give them a good tug. The back requires that you push in and up. There is a hook and latch type thing going on.

Outer ring was so dried. I just rubbed it off with my finger and vacuumed it.

The kit from Simply Sound.

Here is the new ring.

All glued up and ready to dry.
My ‘04 Lexus LS430 came with a busted subwoofer. I was determined to find a solution. After searching around I finally came upon the repair kit from Simply Speakers. The kit arrived and I got to work. I found another post in there that was excellent for removing the back seat. It took me some time to remove the seat being that it was my first time, but it’s not that difficult. I got the speaker out fairly easy. Gluing proved to be more difficult that I anticipated. I wound up making a mess on the paper cone. But overall, it was good enough. I let the glue dry and installed everything back. Turned it on, not working at all. I messed around with several things like the amp and wiring harness. No luck. Left it alone and came out the next day to find that it worked! It was short lived. Stopped working again. A few days later, it was back and there to stay. The bass seems like it is pretty weak, but the sub is definitely moving. I am happy with the work and the kit from Simply Sound is great. It was also a great opportunity to clean.

If you're going to end up taking the sub in/out multiple times it would be easier to cut the opening so you don't have to keep removing the rear seat. 5 minutes to cut the opening and then less than 5 minutes to pull the sub out. I've repaired mine with the Simply Sound foam a couple years ago and haven't had any issues. IMO, the sub either works or it doesn't. If you're having intermittent issues with it coming on I would look closer at the amp being an issue.

Hello fellow LS owners I'm not brave enough to tackle this job myself and would happily pay someone to do together. I live in North Kent but can drive to you if you don't live you far, up to 50 milesAnyone had done for his car and would like to help me replace the subwoofer fuel foam?

Alternatively, do you know any Audio installer that could do for me in or around London, UK?

Thanks

The Simply Speakers repair kit is hands down the best option if you are looking to keep the OE rear sub. I did my rear sub on my 2004 and it was very easy to do, once the sub was removed from the car.

I definitely want to go for simple repair. Just not brave to do on my own. Also not willing to cut anything to access the subwoofer.
