Default Techlink Still the Best for Scanning?

I want to get a scanner for my 2006 LS 430.

I have already tried the "el cheapo" scanners from amazon and while they are fun to play with, they only scan the engine and I understand there are many different sensors and settings on my Lexus.

Aside from spending $5000 on a professional scanning tool, what's the next best thing? I've seen the Techlink and Carly scanners but I don't know anyone with practical experience using them.

I use a SG2 to quickly pull codes, but it's pretty limited. Real time data monitoring is nice. I think for the price though, TS is the best. You can't beat the actual Toyota product for just $15 or so for the cable... though it has a bit of a learning curve.

Thank you. What’s TS? I want to get my LS back to 100% mechanically before I start spending $$ on cosmetics.

TS.... Techstream.

Just be careful because any Chinese copy is full of viruses. Make sure you use it on an old computer with NO network access.

Techstream is available though Toyota directly. A caution that any posted links will close this thread.

TIS and Techstream are available here:
