Default Windshield whistle

I have a funny air leak in my windshield. At around 80-85 mph I start to hear a loud whistle from the upper right hand side. I know it's a leak because if I ask the passenger to push up on the windshield, it goes away until they let it go.

Is this common? 2006 LS

I had a whistle from pass side, and it turned out to be the vinyl had peeled off about 6" from the drip rail and was like a streamer. I don't think the windshield itself is a common issue. Does your glass have the Lexus logo, or has it been replaced?

BTDT. It required re-instalation of windshield in my case. Was the windshield replaced? This is not unusual if the install wasn't done correctly. Also, aftermarket glass is MUCH less expensive than Lexus (made in Japan) and if replaced maybe the problem.

To confirm, suggest doing the wide masking tape trick. Mask off the perimeter of windshield a section at time, i.e. top, then 1 side, then other side, etc. To identify where the wind noise is coming from and proceed from there.

keep us posted.

Prior discussion on this upper passenger side windshield noise at https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...-10-cents.html - I surmise that age or maybe sun/heat exposure causes this windshield-related wind noise for some LS430s.

My 2002 UL's windshield is still as quiet as new, with 17.8 years in Canada (minimal sun and heat exposure), and with only 1 rock chip, which was filled in professionally.

No wind noise on mine, even over 100MPH, but it's definitely the original windshield.

You sure you don't have Lauren Bacall in the car with you, when you hear this whistle, Steve?
