My car is not gold. However I did want to make a point about not standing out. One of the advantages for me with regards to driving a 19 year old mundane looking car is that no one is going to take notice or bother it. I'm confident that when I return to my car I won't find any key marks down the side due to any kind of sick individuals with envy. What envy? It's a nothing looking car, but it more than makes it up in getting me anywhere I have to go without a worry in the world. I can't say the same thing for my Jaguar XK.

It's a base model, 2-owner, and it looks ridiculously clean. I even pulled the Lexus service history, and it looks great!

The main down side I see is that it's the very unpopular gold color (which I actually like a lot), and it's priced way too high based on everything I've read here. However, if I was wanting to get a super-clean, low mileage version of this car, this is the one I'd jump on.

Thoughts from the forum?

Thanks!

When it comes to used LS 430, a well maintained, regularly driven, low mileage, base or premium trim may be the best bet. Less expensive to maintain as fewer options to fail. As many seem not to like gold color, one may use this as an opportunity to buy a gold LS 430 at a reduced price. Even though you like gold yourself. (As long as you don't tell the seller you like gold when looking at a gold car. Tip: No matter what color a used car is, when negotiating, always express you wish it was a different color, even if it is the perfect color you want. Once, when negotiating price on a black with red leather coupe, when close on price, told the dealer wished it was a different color, while privately thinking it is the perfect color but do not want to make an emotional decision based on color, which would not do if car had different color scheme. So, did not lie, and got another $1000 price drop from dealer who did not want to let me walk because of car's color.)
To each his own, but at this point, the value of unused miles may be more important than any color. (Still, say "wish it was different color" during negotiation.) May suggest telling seller you're thinking closer to 8500 (9000 is book for a 59000 mile 2005 LS 430 in outstanding condition, but likely will have to reach above book to make a deal, and may be worth it to do so for such a low mileage LS 430 example. and see what seller comes back with? (Recently saw a similar type low mileage mercury metallic LS 430, made such an inquiry with a "am thinking closer to" price close to book value but quite below asking price, and seller, a dealer, quickly came back with a $2000 price cut. While 11 or even 10 may seem too high for the car; for someone buying to keep and drive, maybe not. But, better to start with "am thinking closer to" price a little below book, but lower than what would be willing to pay in any case as can always go higher later.

Although I wouldn't buy another, I specifically searched the market and wanted my LS to be gold as my es300 has a goldish.I like the nostalgia feeling a old mint gold luxary car gives.I didn't care for the color of the ES at first but after years of driving it. It definitely grew on me especially after a wax. Additionally, I always get compliments on both my cars with people so there's people that like them. You can have a distaste but, you can't hate on what you personally never owned. As with everything else..color is one of those subjective things that is up to the owners taste and I don't buy things based off of what other people like. The real factors are condition, price, and mileage.

Yeah, when I was searching for my LS a little over two years ago the two colors I swore I’d never get were black and gold. Then I got a deal I couldn’t pass up on a 60k mile one owner LS.. that was gold.

Still not my favorite color ever but it has grown on me and when it is clay barred/polished/waxed the metallic flakes really pop and the color looks nicer than just your standard old man gold.

Plus, in the two years and almost 50k miles since the ONLY thing to go wrong on this 15 year old car was the original right upstream o2 sensor and steering wheel telescoping motor. So sometimes if you get a killer deal on one of these cars you have to act even if it’s not exactly what you want. How can you beat the ride and reliability one of these cars gives you for less than $10k? The value these cars offer for so little still blows my mind.

I like my gold car alright, but I'm thinking about putting a satin silver metallic wrap on it, just for fun.

My son's ES330 is gold... it's ok but I'm so thankful my LS430 is white.

Gold has been beautiful for thousands of years. What has gone wrong with the current picture? Envy?
