Help evaluating a 2006 LS430 ML with 160k miles
Yeah no kidding that 13 mpg!
This was JUST posted today and the seller says they already have many phone calls about it, and that MAYBE I can see it on Saturday if it's not sold. Sigh~

And how about that LX470 comparison?
Now I'm undecided between the LS430 and an LX470. Which goes to show I don't know what I want. The LX is pretty quiet, and very roomy, but the mpg is horrid. I wish I had access to these cars for an hour or two so I could really feel them out.

Very good advice to OP to look at many listings for some period of time.
At least with AMZN and GOOGL, or most any actively traded stock, one can immediately sell for what one paid, as their markets are very liquid and true current market price information is readily available, As to guessing what happened with the AMZN you paid $175 for in November 1998, no one has to guess. It more than doubled in 5 weeks when it hit $361. Then after pulling back to $300, it rose again, split 3 for 1, and doubled again within 2 weeks to the first part of 1999 to hit almost $200 or the equivalent of nearly $600 pre-split.. (Before AMZN hit $175 in 1998 AMZN had split 2 for 1 in June 1998 after being as high as $100 a share. In early 1999 there was also a 3 for 1 split and later that year another 2 for 1 split) So in less than 2 months of you buying at $175 (a price which was already up 20x from 1997's low) you had nearly 4x your money. But, by September 2001 AMZN had fallen over 95% from its split adjusted high of $113 in 1999, to $5.51. (Of course there would now be 6 shares for each share at $175 in November 1998 bringing share price cost down to less than $30 but still an 80% loss in 3 years,) But, a 1000% increase in price in 18 months to over $60 got shares purchased in 1998 at $175 back to a double in value. Subsequent declines got as low as $26.76 in 2006. In 2009, 11 years after AMZN was $175 in 1998, it was up a little over 17% from that price level. However, at its peak of $2025 in 2018, AMZN was up over 68x from its 1998 $175 per share price and is still up 58x from that 1998 $175 price today.

Same with amazon when it declined. In 1998 I was a young lad and only wanted to invest in 6 shares. Do I wish I had gotten 12 shares? Or 18? No. Because of the risk. I know that 12 or 18 was not doable. Just like that 4th beer at Oktoberfest in Rosemont a week ago today.
This is what my phone says. How I feel is completely irrelevant. It's like seeing your house price on realtor.com, v. zillow.com Sometimes a good 25% difference--because again, each has ulterior motives, just as carfax v kbb. Just like a for lack of a better word stock broker, v. Warren Buffet or Jack Bogle.
With the LS430, it's an old car, so imho nothing to lose by offering less, not more. And the only reason to get one is really to drive it. It's not a collectible. It won't appreciate in value like a Rolex. Or a Grateful Dead cd (go figure).

Don't worry I'm doing the PA State inspection on Monday. It's valid through 10/31/19. Carfax bases a year on when it was last done. I did it a month early last year.
I have no experience on eBay for cars, I wouldn't do it based on my cousin's experience getting a 5 wagon from Miami, but eBay is nearly perfect on many items. You can actually get things where you did not overpay. Sometimes due to circumstance you can find steals...
