Isn't there a little pop-out drawer on the front console? My DroidX fit in there quite nicely, but my Galaxy S4 is just a tad too wide.

Ok guys....the moment you have all been waiting for!!!!! My phone holder has been fabricated and it works like a charm.

Pros are

Phone is firmly mounted where I can easily see it and use functions
Phone is mounted directly above charger and charger cord coils neatly in lower console trey
Phone is not mounted on any vents....our vents oscillate
Phone is not blocking any vents
Phone is not blocking any button or function that I use...can still hit scan and spin tunner
Zero holes or sticky tape...nothing wedged in between my trim pieces
Holder slides right out when not in use....fits easily in console
Phone does not restrict passenger knees in anyway such as a side console mount

Notes

My car is a 2004 LS430
My phone is very large...it is a Samsung Galaxy S5...smaller phones obviously would work even better
I could easily make a similar set up for lower trey
Any small articulating mount would work.....mine is old school made by Motorola....Im not sure if it is still being sold or not.
I have a small button on the back of my phone that allows me to use this mount.

I hope this helps anyone looking for a solutionPhone holders, mounts, what have you (merged threads)-phone-holder-resized-2.jpg

Now that's pretty neat! Nice install, very user friendly.

Just a thought - would some leatherette wrapped around the wooden base give a more upscale appearance?

Good job, you may have won me over. Ignore my previous comments!

Thanks! Yes I was thinking of covering the wood block with a couple of things.....not sure what would look best. Keep in mind from a drivers stand point u cant see the holder or base at all.....now the passenger can see the side view........the inside of the slide trey is black plastic....hence I went for a gloss black look. I have some pho carbon fiber sticker stuff left over from boat project....considered that....but would look like a kids Subaru if I did that........not sure leather would look good mid dash......possibly wrapping the wood block in a black fabric and stapling underneath would look clean........Im up for suggestions......anybody have a few slabs of birds eye maple laying around?

unbelievable!!!!!! I love the internet. I might give that a try. The mount block only takes 2 seconds and a piece of 2x4 to make........so I will start making prototype #2...

Quote: Get one of those stickum pads and mount it on any hard surface....I keep mine behind the gearshift on the center console next to the charger. About 4 bucks on eBay
I use one of these also stuck on top of the ash tray.

I'd like something to hold my iphone6 in front of the nav screen so I can use it as my nav. My factory unit doesn't work any more. Any suggestions?

You can buy hardwood at Home Depot. Or, take at look at a piece of wood flooring as they have an almost infinite range of woods and colors.

430 thunder....nice work
Hey 430Thunder.........very creative.....when I posted my thread this is the type of response I was looking for......A phone mount that doesnt cause any damage to the car and YOU CAN SEE the phone......Larger phones dont fit in pull out treys etc......and the whole purpose of a mount is being able to clearly see your phone while driving.......example....using as GPS.......

Thanks for posting pics
