Quietest 245-45-18 Tire

It's not an oxymoron, just curious what is it about 245/45-18 that would imply not quiet...the 45? One would think it has more to do with tread composition and design...

I just ordered a set of PRIMACY MXM4 from Costco to replace the cheap $50 Ironman tires the dealer put on the car before they sold it. Fingers crossed...

I went with Falken Pro G4 and have been very pleased with them, especially for the price. When I drive on the highway, I like to go fast if traffic is light and these tires are great, very quiet and very stable, even at speed.

I decided to try the Premiere AS's. The tread looks like it would be quiet. The only complaint I have found is in the wear and I always get treated right with Michelin when I don't get the wear I am supposed to get.

I'm about 100 miles into my Michelins as well. Between the new upper control arm and the new tires, the ride is SO much better than before. With those, when I sped up or stopped, I got that sound/vibration of the treads. Kind of like you hear on a 4x4 truck with knobby tires. That's gone, and the ride is completely different. I'm now experiencing the legendary LS430 smoothness.
Having said that, I have 3 Hercules Ironman 18" tires I'm not using. Why 3? One was bad. When the (Lexus!) dealer installed the "NEW TIRES!!!" while prepping the car for sale, they apparently used the cheapest tires they could. They also reused the 12 year old valve stems. So the day after I got it, the right rear tire ran flat. Luckily I carry an air compressor/jump pack with me and reinflated the tire, but it happened a couple more times before I got the problem resolved and the stems replaced (shout out to Toy House in Tampa). When the Cosco guy pulled the tire off, he showed me a huge pile of rubber crumbs in the tire. The interior sidewall of the tire had disintegrated and left nothing but the steel belt, presumably from being driven with low pressure. It looked fine from the outside. Kind of scary. So I might replace my 13 year old spare with one of those and sell the other two.

I am about 10 K in to the MXM 4's on my LS, I am pleased with both the handling and the lack of noise. Car is planted in turns, and I can push it hard without drama. Thank you previous owner, tires had less than a year and 3 or 4 K miles on them.
They are very good in the rain too.
