Default Need help- center arm rest removal

Hello everyone, Clark again, I am about to reupholster my front center armrest in my '02 LS430. Does anybody know how to remove the center lid? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I got quoted a price just a little bit ago... does $220 to $258 sound a little high to get one done, or is it just me. The person who quoted me this price is a certified Lexus dealer partner, at least to my dealer in Memphis TN.

Thanks for the help everyone!!!

Sincerely,

C

I replaced my console lid with an OEM one in 2016. I purchased it from parts.com for $282. A perfect match and certainly beat trying to have it reupholstered.

I had to disassemble mine to fix the loose screw problem. There are threads on it here, it can be tricky especially when reassembling it, the wires kept getting caught underneath the bin preventing it from sliding home. It look a but if fiddling and swearing but I got it back together.

hmm, i was just thinking about getting the center arm rest "cover" from a seller on amazon and i was just wondering how hard it would be to install it. i actually bought a replacement console assembly, so i might try to see how hard it's going to be.

In the end, it wasn't a big deal to remove the console. The screws inside had loosened over time, making the cover hard to open/close and it wobbled all over the place. Definitely a good way to save $$$ over a new armrest.

i did the console repair and tightened the screws. worked like a charm. i'm not sure if the OP was wondering about just removing the top lid to have that reupholster. mine isn't too bad, but i was looking and saw a replacement "skin only" leather cover for the top of the console. i wasn't sure how hard it was to take just the cover off.
