Default Fuel Range goes down by 2 miles when driving??

My 06 UL is awesome and love her too death, but Geesh shes a thirsty b***h lol. I noticed a couple weeks ago, when ever I start the car and drive, the fuel range drops horrendously in less than a few miles, and today was absolutely crazy. I just got off work, and I drive home with 374 miles left to the tank, less than 8.. EIGHT.... OCHO miles in, it dropped 20 miles in range and then no less than 5 min go by 30 miles of range gone. Wtf?? It was dropping by 2 miles for every mile I drove and I was under 2000 rpm, then it decides to drop by 1 mile. Has anyone else dealt with this?? Another thing that bugs me is that when I first got my car, and filled it up with gas, it said 420 miles of range, ever since then when I fill it up, it never went over 400 miles, lowest I've even seen was 365 and was baffled, and others were just random numbers of range, isn't it supposed to be consistent? What are your fuel economy numbers? Any ideas what is going on with the display figures dropping 2 miles and have you ever noticed it do that??

Don't worry about the range. No computer on any car can predict the future. Let's say you get 19 combined, and 27 highway, and have 10 gallons left. If you do combined, your range is 190. If you go highway, your range is 270. How does the car know what you're going to do next? It has to approximate based on something. We don't know what that something is. The only time I've paid attention is I drive my wife's car to NJ to fill it up, as it's cheaper than PA. If the range is low, like 60, it doesn't bother me that when I get to work, 24 miles later, it's 54.

It calculates your projected gas use based on your former gas use.
So, from the sound of it, you have a heavier right foot (or live in a more urban environment) than the former owner.
Mine varies drastically from 17Mpg(US) when I did most of a tankful driving in the French Massif Central (lots of big hills with twisty, narrow roads) to 25Mpg(US) when driving home on the Freeways at a nearly constant 80Mph.
