Default Cooling fans 2003 LS430

Hello,
This is my first post on this or any forum for that matter. I’m hoping someone can help me with my problem. The battery light came on showing a problem with a no charge condition. After checking with my meter I replaced the alternator. That turned the battery light out and was getting 14 volts charging. Shortly after that I noticed that when the key is out of the ignition the coolant fans run continuously, even when the engine is cold. After trying to follow the schematic I hit a dead end and made a guess at the cooling fan module. That was a expensive guess and needless to say didn’t fix it. It looks like there is a 7.5 amp fuse that powers the coil side of the relay but I don’t know where it is located. It looks like after that energizes the relay a 50 amp fuse comes into play and sends current along a white/blue tracer wire to the cooling fan module that in turn sends current to the cooling fans via two separate connectors. Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think I’m supposed to have 12 volts at the cooling fan module with the key off with a cold engine. I’m confused at this point and would appreciate some clarification on the schematic. Thank you.

Thank you very much for the schematic. It helped a lot. Unfortunately I still have the problem. Not really sure what to do next. Don’t want to go to the dealer.

I’m thinking the relay is bad. Can I swap one of the other rad fan relays with this one?

#3b says check that there is continuity between terminal 3 & 5. It should say check that there is NO CONTINUITY. If there IS CONTINUITY replace the relay. There is a contradiction from the diagram vs the verbabge in the paragraph. I do appreciate the information. My ohm test does play out the way the diagram shows. Looks like the relay is good. Although I haven’t performed the test with battery voltage applied. I’ll let you know.

I agree that the diagram is correct, that is, no continuity between terminal 3 & 5 when there is no power applied to terminal 1 & 2. Good catch on the discrepancy!
