How long have you had the car? Have you ever seen it on before?

Could be the bulb is out. On my Miata, previous owner removed the bulb as opposed to dealing with the fault codes. Easy to replace on the Miata, but never attempted on the LS.
In TX, won't pass safety inspection if the bulb is not working.

Default MIL not working

The MIL (or check engine light) is supposed to light up when the ignition is fully energized (but not starting the engine). The MIL is supposed to go out shortly after the engine is started. That's the way it is supposed to be and the way it has worked in the past.. However, recently it no longer will light up when the ignition is energized. SO, it will not pass emissions test because it does not go out when the engine is started - and the emission test facility has to verify that it does go out when the engine is started. What to do next? Fuse? Which one? Bulb? How?

Gotta be the bulb... don't think I've heard of one going out though. Seriously doubt the fuse as the fuse would have more on it than just the one bulb.
Are there any other warning/indicator lights not working?

Check this thread for cluster removal. Does not appear to be that hard.

You'll still need to find what bulb part number you'll need.

There is no bulb. It's a common failure issue on this gen. We can repair it if you send it in otherwise you will need a new cluster. Send us a message or call to get the process going.
