Default Tilt Telescope Issue

My 2004 LS430 has just started an issue and I was wondering if anyone else had this experience.

In the last few months I noticed when I start the car the wheel automatically tilts to the preset position but the automatic telescope function about half the time does not move. But I can use the button on the steering column to make the wheel telescope and about 90% of the time it works. Once I turn off the car, the wheel always retracts.

It seems to me that the problem may be whatever makes the steering wheel auto tilt\telescope when starting. not sure if it a switch, computer function or ? It just doesn't seem like the issue might be the motor.

I asked my Lexus service department about this and he said they would probably replace the tilt motor.

A couple of other facts about this issue.
I did replace the tilt motor in 2015 but the telescope motor is original.
About 4 months ago I also started to notice that the driver side outside mirror sometimes did not open from the folded position while the passenger side functioned normally. At first I thought the mirror might be frozen but again like the steering wheel, using the button to unfold the mirror always worked.

Just looking to find out if anyone experienced this type of an issue and was it something else besided the steering wheel motor

Unfortunately there’s a good chance it’s the motor. It’s not that uncommon of a problem. I went to the dealer and had them flash the software to remove that auto tilt feature and I’m so glad I did. First of all, they did it for free, and now I don’t have to stress about my squeaky motor finally dying on me

I'm having the same problems. Can somebody please provide the part number needed for a 2004 LS430, I think my mechanic has the wrong part number and before I buy one I want to make sure it's the right part to fit my car. Thanks! I'd call around to check but right now I'm out of the country and my car is waiting to be fixed at the mechanic's shop.
