Do you have
a pair of diagonal cutters a pair of diagonal cutters
? As long as you have a decent pair it's pretty easy. It's hard to see the factory hog rings but you only need to see just enough to know where to snip them.

Thank you so much! my seat cushion is fine, but I'm having an issue in my climate seats fan this will help me a lot to replace it myself.
But this will be my first time.. so please bear with me .. the seat fan motor is that black plastic part located under the air filter.. right? also.. can I reach its screws after removing the seat?
Thanks again..

Here are some pictures to help you out. I didn't remove the fan but it looks like it comes out the bottom.

I got my new cushion in, but I can't seem to find the metal bar that I think is supposed to be embedded in the cushion. Did I misunderstand something?

The seat air filter really needs to be changed. In general, people complain about low cooling flow, but I think they probably forget about the filter. That filter is located is a very dirty environment. When the driver gets in the car a lot of dirt comes along on the shoes. Obviously a lot of that goes into the filter. It's easy to get to and change.

Thanks, everyone.

One other thing. I've always heard that you are supposed to disconnect the battery and wait for about 5 minutes before disconnecting the seat. Something about the airbags might accidentally go off if connected to power and the wait is required because it retains some juice for a few minutes after the battery is disconnected.

Anyone know if this is true?

True, when working with any part of the SRS system it’s reccomed to disconnect the negative battery terminal. I can’t remember the exact time though. I believe it was 90 seconds

Default GS450 seats: Will other gs submodel seats fit my gs450h??

Hi, I just picked up a 2007 Lexus gs450h. It has a lot of kms on it. 420k. Still drives very nicely but I want to get some seats from a lower kms Lexus. Can anyone tell.me if the black leather is the same across the GS range and do the seats for and have all the extras my seat has? Which model year GS is the newest I can go up to? I will start with the driver's seat and move from there.

Thx.

I think you will be better served posting in the GS forum.

Default Seat cushion uncomfortable

After the first long drive in my 05 LS it is apparent both front seat base cushions have deteriorated. This surprised me as the car has only done a genuine 45,000 kilometres. I read some here who suggest seat cushions are worn out, hence this thread regards cushion replacement. With low klms on my car I don't believe the cushions are worn from use but what I do suspect is that after 15 years, irrespective of use, the cushions deteriate from old age. Anyone agree with this theory ?

I don't know why but I can contribute that we have 4 cars, ranging from 1998-2011, so our newest car is 8.5 years old. The LS is the only car that has a sagging driver's seat. This, does not agree with your situation, as you have it on both.

A friend's theory, and I think I buy it, was that the reason is ventilated seats having holes in the cushion, meaning not just pores, but holes, allow it to weaken faster than normal. My mfg. 10/06 BMW (13 months newer than the LS) has sport seats that are hard as rocks. They are not ventilated. But, my front pass seat on the LS is firm. So to me, it still takes use to make it sag.
