It's funny how the LS430 warns you when any rear tail light or brake light is out but doesn't alert you to our headlight bulbs. I guess 17 years is enough time to replace my front low beams. My driver's side went out tonight but I would be planning on replacing both to get the identical brightness/intensity. I would like the identical bulbs that came with the car. I was wondering if it is necessary to remove the entire assembly or it can be replaced through the wheel well area? Should the running lights be replaced at the same time since we are there already? Does anyone know the factory part number and possibly the best place to buy them? I noticed on line some crazy price of $150 for one from Lexus. If this is the case.....what brand would be the closest to the OEM. with the white light which I want. I'm not interested in brighter or more intense. Thanks all for an old subject.

Osram is always a safe bet for oem replacement. I plan on grabbing these they are the closest to oem quality. I would replace both bulbs because of the color difference between the new and old bulbs will be noticable. I have done a ton of research on hid bulbs and do not buy the cheap ones they will go bad quicker as well as the color of the bulb will go towards the higher end of the (kelvin?) scale and be a more blue color the more cycles the bulb goes through, unlike higher quality bulbs that take longer to brake down over time.

I forgot to mention that my car (2001-2003 LS430) calls for a D2R bulb. Your link link I believe is a D2S for the 2004-2006 LS430..yes? Thanks......I noticed there was some criticism that these lights were somewhat yellowish. Is there any bulb that starts out with the white that our cars have?

Highly recommend Orsam Cool Blue Intensive bulbs. running the D2S version on 2 family cars including wife's 2004 LS430 and they are magnificent! Nothing blue about the light output; crisp and very white. Very close in color to state of art LEDs on today's better cars. you will not be disappointed and at $100 for the pair, its an excellent value. Here's a link:

Thanks RKW for the additional info. Unfortunately, the link on Amazon for the Osram D2R shows a vendor who's rating has dropped quite a bit in the last 90 days. My other alternative is on Ebay but the bulbs are coming from England and I can't wait that long. With my schedule I need to get something in my car this week and not sure where to get the bulbs. I'd love to get the Osrams but timing might be a problem.

Irony of ironies... Just started researching lamp issues and I'm not alone!

A few nights ago, I pull into the garage and notice my passenger side headlamp of out... I guess finally after 17 years one finally failed. So yesterday morning I fire up the car to head down to work, and both lamps are illuminated..(?) Same thing this morning. Both lamps are working. So, I must have one that is ready to fail, but just hasn't yet.. No dimming, no yellowish color, it just didn't illuminate. And then it did....

In any case, I guess I better order a pair and have them on hand so I can swap em out.

Did my drivers side a couple weeks back. When I went to pull it out I noticed half the clip was already disconnected
holding the bulb in place. Need to tackle the passenger side as I notice parking in the garage the bulb differences are
really noticeable. Sure is far easier pulling out the entire headlamp assembly versus going in from behind.

The problem I am coming across is the number of counterfeit bulbs both in the high and low price range. The only vendor on Amazon that sells Osram with the link above has had a number of issues in the last 90 days. Others on Ebay that have 100% and have sold many items are selling supposedly packaged bulbs for $25 each. Others selling for 4 times that amount. Whom am I to believe? Of course I can go to a retail store and buy the D2R Sylvania ZXE and pay over $100 each. I'm really not sure who on line I can trust. I don't want anything made in China and I've read disclosures that even the vendors themselves sometimes don't know they are selling counterfeits. Kind of stuck with my decision.

For whatever its worth, for my 2003 i bought the following back in September of last year. Still working fine.


Even though the box states 4700K, its more akin to 5000K. I personally prefer having just a slight amount of warm-ness to my headlights. But these do not and are "pure" white. Definitely not blue, but i wouldn't call them "warm" white for sure.

Just went and checked my Amazon orders, they product shows in my list but is no longer sold from whoever I bought it from. The maker of
my bulbs was Kensun D2R 6000k. They work great, just got it changed to match.
