Flat Battery now won't let thekey turn
Hi All,
I have a 2001 LS430 (Australian Spec). Went out to the car the other morning and the battery is flat. Remote door opening wouldn't work - Had no idea why as I had the headlights set to auto. So took the battery output it on the charger overnight and when I reconnected it to the car I noticed that the headlights were on and the indicators were illuminated.
Triple checked the polarity of the battery and all good. Hit the remote to open the door - nothing. Tried to turn the ignition, would not turn. No interior light either yet the headlights are still on.
Any Ideas on how I can get my baby to start ?

I just looked at this two days ago, at least on my '06 it's like the key switch is spring loaded, and can be pressed in, and it bounces back out. Everytime I do it, there is a distinct electric motor sound unlocking, and locking back, the steering column. Do you get that? I would have to experiment, but on old fashioned cars, when there is too much pressure on the lock, the key doesn't turn. As I recall, I think that even with the click/unlock sound, I still could not turn the key without releasing the pressure. I am also guessing that if that lock stops working, the key would not turn. just my .02

You may have blown one or more fuses while re-installing the battery.
