So I noticed a while back on my 2004 if I turn the key slowly and stop between accessory and actually starting the engine somewhere in the middle if you STOP turning the key there is this one little area on the ignition that will make the cooling fans come on automatically and also the DRL will come on without the engine running. The VSC light will come on at the dash. Anyways I use this feature on a hot day before putting it in my garage and let the engine cool down quicker. Was curious if anyone else knew about this.
Never noticed it, but when you mention the DRL is already on, I wonder if you're actually in the ON position (but physically not there?).....
Now positive, but I thought that my car could be off on my 98 Maxima, and if the key is ON, the electric fans turn on...this is not the case with my other 2 cars...my wife's car somehow even knows, when the ign is ON but motor not running, no DRLs, the car actually has to really be on....there is a lot of logic in cars today....also on her car, if I move the key back to ON without starting (turns the instruments back on), her coolant temp actually goes up higher than normal running temp....
Its like an area in the middle before starting the engine if you turn the key slowly I hear a click sound and the engine fans will come on even if the engine has been started in a day or so. The DRL lights on mine will come on about 30 seconds after but not immediate. I found it by accident one day when I turned off the car but didn't turn the smart key all the way off and noticed my cooling fans where roaring away and the engine was off.
