Do you sell Amsoil? Honest question. That's usually how this stuff goes, people are crawling around on web forums touting how superior Amsoil oil is.

I just know it's about 3 times the price as other synthetic oils, around $12 a quart. They have extra commissions to pay for sales people.

It adds up over the life of the car.

Because...it is. It's been discussed (and documented ad infinitum on this website and many others. Numbers in controlled labs aren't subjective.

So just why did you post the original? You wanted input, but in the end you are the expert that knows everything about this product. You really didn't want an answer that didn't agreed with your conclusion before the post. Posts such as this add nothing to this forum.

Really?
I did not ask for general opinion about the product. I asked a specific question - have you taken the time to read it? Here it is again:

"Does anyone have any experience with using Amsoil in their differential or transmission in their LS?"

That is what I wanted to know. Im simply asking for people's experience. That's literally all I asked for.

Now please, with all due respect, consider your own words, "Posts such as this add nothing to this forum" and move along.

I just paid $8.xx/quart for the premium off of their website as a regular consumer. Not sure where you're getting your numbers from...

I understand the point of this thread and don't have any issue with it....with our BMWs, most of us do not want to pay for the BMW name on the 5W30 factory oil, because it's like $8/qt. no matter where you go. But, many of us want to use LL-01 oil, which often is even higher than that price. If you lift my hood, the name Castrol is right there on the filler cap, but they dropped Castrol and went to Shell. So needless to say, there were posts can I use Mobil 1 Euro 0W40, and the answer is, NO, not after Nov 2015, if you care about LL-01. Some feel it's still Mobil 1, they don't have LL-01 because they don't feel like ponying up to BMW, the oil is still fine--it's a factory fill at Corvette, AMG, Porsche, blah blah blah. Then, even Castrol Euro 0W40 has vague terminology on the jug regarding LL-01. I guess what I am saying is yes oil is oil and it has numbers and chemical qualities associated with it, designations, endorsements, but there's nothing wrong with asking others what they're using and what they think. My opinion on Amsoil has always been that it's expensive and exceeds the requirements of the LS and my 98 Maxima, but would in no way harm either car.....my .02

Yep, and when you add it to your cart as a first time customer you get a 20 or 25% discount on your first order, or you can pay I think it's $20 and get a 25% discount on all your orders. When I buy oil, filters, ATF fluid, gear oil and everything else the $20 for 25% off adds up to less than $.50 per court. So again I paid eight dollars per court.

So, going back to your original statement about how you "know it's about 3 times the price as other synthetic oils," please tell me what I'm missing. What full synthetic is under $3 per quart? I'd really love to know so I can look at the UOAs for it.

Well we know you're not a first time customer

Clearly you have some strong opinions on how awesome Amsoil is.

I stand by what I said, I can get 5 quarts of Mobil 1 for around $25
and 5 quarts of Amsoil is around $60, and then there are shipping costs.

Maybe they have certain promotions, but who cares? The last time I bought Mobil 1 I got a $12 rebate from a promotion. So now we're at $13 for 5 quarts of Mobil 1.

My point is, Amsoil is more expensive anyway you want to calculate it because of the silly sales model with "dealers" that like to troll around forums "just asking questions" about if people know how awesome Amsoil is. And then these same people tend to get angry when you say its over priced.

This is why I get really skeptical of people that want to "innocently" introduce the topic of Amsoil oil

Their whole business model is built on this type of strategy. Maybe this doesn't apply to the OP, but there's a whole lot of people that do, and the slightest pushback gets all sorts of hell rained down from the same person that went from being a person just asking questions about it to knowing in depth about AmSoil current promotions, pricing, and having oil charts to share with everyone.

Buyer Beware.

How about just staying on topic? Is that really too much to ask? I want to know peoples experience with using Amsoil in their transmission. It's really that simple. I could care less what any of you use. I could care less what you think about the cost. If you have experience with it or are aware of first-hand experience then please let me know. If not I really wasn't asking for peoples opinions about the price or quality. Man, I am already starting to regret joining this form. This is the nastiest form I've been on, honestly. This is like troll central here. Has anybody actually read my original post and attempted to answer what I actually asked?

Coulter, people rightfully get angry when people misrepresent the facts. My post was nothing about how awesome it is, I asked for first-hand experience. All people can buy 5 quarts of Amsoil for $40, first time customer or not. You're intentionally trying to misrepresent the situation. When you add the product to your car they either take off 20% where they offer you an annual membership which if you're doing a large order is worth it. If you don't want to that's great I could care less. If you think it's too much again I could care less.

The only time I've mentioned price or discounts is when somebody misrepresented the price such as yourself. I posted the picture of what I paid for it.I've never promoted the product or encouraged others to buy it. So once again please if you don't have first-hand experience of using it in the transmission in this vehicle please stop trolling my thread.

I think it would be incredibly stupid to use anything but the exact transmission fluid Lexus recommends in their manual, so either Toyota Type IV or Toyota World Standard (WS) depending on the year of your LS.

Not a "universal" type transmission fluid that can supposedly be used in a variety of different car brands.

Hopefully that answers your question.
