Default Looking for 18" Winter Tire recommendations

Its about time I replace my winter tires.
I have a dedicated set of 18" wheels I run in the winter.
I currently have Blizzak LM60s but they are close to being spent.
The were ok but are very loud. They are definitely not as good as the WS series I used to run on my Acura Legends.
I am looking for recommendations for use in New England Area.
On a side note: I tried out new summer tires after reading JPVs thread on the Pirelli P7 plus and those turned out great. I previously ran Michelins.
Thanks in advance!

I have run the Xice3's for past 2-3 years and don't even know i am runnin snows. I think they are 45 k warrantee and H rated tread looks great after 3 years. Biggest problem is gettin high centered and damn snow which sticks to the felt linerslike glue.

How is this car in the snow, with 4 snow tires? Does it get stuck...do you ever have to press the button?

I have a RWD BMW with 4 snows, but I rarely drive it in actual snow. I did manage fine in 9". But that car is a stick....

I has a set of Blizzak's with 16" rims for 04 UL and they were great. I searched on eBay and the wheels with tires were $320 shipped. Hard to beat that. Even during that huge storm we got in February I believe it was I was able to plow through with very little wheel spin. Snow mode just helps ease the throttle a bit but with snow tires I did not really use it.

Hey Lav, how did you fit 16s on your UL? I thought 17s were the smallest wheel size due to the front caliper size

Lexus LS 16's fit just fine. Mine were off a LS400. Disk height I think is the correct term for clearance for the front caliper.

For snows, -1 is recommended, to get skinnier and taller....so when one thinks of it, if the vehicle came with 17's, 16's would be -1.

There are all these things I want to check off, as far as having them in cars....V8, check...4 piston fixed calipers fronts/2 piston rears, check, thanks to the LS! Soft close trunk, check, soft close doors, don't have them (glad I don't due to the actuators)....

But, I have my old BMW 335 rotors in the garage, and I was given the old LS430 rotors--the LS's rotors fit on top of the BMWs and are smaller (yet the car is 500 lbs. heavier)...BMW fronts are 13.7" (348 mm), LS's are 12.4".....my next car I want > 14" rotors (BMW M2 is now over 14").....

The X Ice 3's are pretty bomber. I don't go crashing thru drifts like with my Tuareg but if there is a plow which went thru I am ok. Don't want to get sideways on ice, where the traction control and stabilitrack can't mitigate the sideways slide otr it WILL brake loose and you are in trouble. I just drive at reasonable speeds when it is slick also and braking and cornering is sure footed.

The X-Ice is one of the top-scoring tires in Consumer Reports and Tire Rack testing. They're also very reasonably priced. Yesterday I ordered a set of XI2's in 235/60/18 for the wife's '15 RX350 F-sport, which is the -1 size. They don't make the XI3 in our size. $145.45 ea. Also got a set of "Sport Edition X1" wheels, which is Tire Rack's store-brand wheel, at $128 ea. We have Sport Editions for the snows on my BMW too. They seem to work just fine.
