Default aftermarket wheels



They can rust if you don't look after them. Clean and protect and you have no problems
I keep the chrome wheels for winter tires. My summertires are 17" Michelins on 17x8 Lumaraii

You can usually find a good deal on stocks on craigslist as well, in my area I see 4-5 different sets for our cars. It gets a bad rep but if youre smart there are plenty of deals to be had.



$1500+ is an asinine price in my mind if all you want is a nice stock set. Dont pay for aftermarket if its not what you really want! A good stock set with good tires should cost 1/3rd of that at most!

and if you want to talk reliability/safety nothing beats stock, no need to worry about "grenading".

Now if you want something more customized thats another story...
Dude you obviously have no idea what you are talking about a stock pair of rims brand new with tires is gonna be the same as the enkeis with tires, $1500 is cheap i spent $3500-$4000 on rims when i had my evo i spent $2800 on rims and tires just for my ls430. Rims for the ls430 the stock 5 spoke go for $280-$500 a piece

"nothing beats stock" hah i have seen stock rims on cars grenade my 2002 eclipse had a recall on the rims for this, i also have seen a lot of stock stuff on cars break to be replaced with aftermarket so stock is not always better.

lol how unnecessarily aggressive of you, Id challenge your reading comprehension and suggest you reread what I wrote before you go about trying to put me on blast:

Everything below that was obviously talking about used wheels, as OP had asked about them.

Yea everything has a failure rate, but inferring that aftermarket wheels have a comparable or lower failure rate is silly. It also doesnt matter at all if OPs use case doesnt apply much stress to the wheels on a daily basis. Sorry your oem mitsubishi wheels couldnt withstand your abuse.

If you like the look of OEM, then by all means, go with the OEM wheels. If you have a price range of being around $1500, in my opinion, there are way better wheels available in that range... In looks, and build quality. Keep in mind, when going with a 17" wheel, you might not receive the same wheel that you looked at when you ordered them. What i mean by this is, when you look at wheels pictures on websites, you are usually looking at something larger because thats what looks the best in pictures. When you go down to 17" everything is compressed, so those spokes are smaller and the overall design of the wheel is kind of "compressed". IM not saying this about all of the wheels you see, but definitely some.

With that being said, if you would like some assistance in getting something, i would be happy to help.

I was wrong you can get a nice set of 17 inch enkei rims with tires mounted, balanced and shipped for $1000- $1500 off of tire rack so yah i would do this over spending $900-$1800 on just stock rims that some one could have slammed into a curb but thats just my opinion though.

I bought a set of good OEM 17" wheels w/ virtually new Yokohamas on Craigs for $500. Painted sports model (the best looking stock wheels IMHO).
Had to watch for 2 weeks but they do show up. I also have a set of OEM chrome wheels. No problems w/ flaking but live in a dry climate
so that helps. Smaller 17" wheels may not look as "cool" as bigger custom wheels but seem to have a more comfortable ride.

How do you recalibrate a speedo when changing wheel size? TechStream gets you into the computer to do the small stuff (disable tilt/telescope, change timing on lights, locks used, etc)

If anyone in MD would be willing to trade chrome OEM 17s for OEM 18s. I would be willing to do a straight trade.

For OP. I think finding a set of stock 17s will be your cheapest option.
