Default The lovely p0330 knock sensor code! Need help!!!

Background: I bought a 2001 ls430 three years ago with 100,000 from the dealer. Had no issue what so ever. Drove like a dream. Four months after owning is I went through a right turn, had 1/8 of a tank of fuel. The car sputtered, check engine light started flashing and then it died. Would not start. Needless to say I put two gallons of fuel in the car and started right up. Low fuel light wasn't on when this happened. I ran 89 octane for a while so see how the car ran for a few tank fills and ended up switching to 93 octane getting fuel at Kroger normally.

A year later the knock sensor code came on for bank two. Ending up replacing it was an aftermarket sensor from oreilys. All was good for about a month and then the light would start coming on for a few days of driving and then go off and would continue to do this for a long time. The light then started staying on more often then I would shut off.. Was very annoyed

One day I stopped to get fuel at a Shell gas station. I was at a 1/4 tank and filled up with 93 octane vpower. After driving on that's for the day the check engine light shut off. And stayed off until I was at 1/4 tank again. I decided to fill it up with Vpower again and sure enough it shut off. I thought I fixed the problem by using Better fuel. The CEL then started coming on at 3/4 tank and now wouldn't go away now like it used to. I was on the interstate one day with about 1/4 of fuel and floored it to get past a truck and it sputtered and end up dying on me leaving me and my wife on the side of the road. Needless to say, I had some fuel brought to me and drove it away to a gas station and filled up.

This past week I decided to change both knock sensors. Timing belt. Water pump. Spark plugs. And a few other wear items while I was in there since it now has 178,000. All new Toyota parts. I was sure this would fix the problem I with the CEL. I drove it for about four miles and the light came back on for the same code.

What could be going on with my LS?!? Why is the knock sensor code still popping up? Could I have something to do with my fuel issues I have going on? Should I change my fuel pump and filter? I'm at a loss...

Thank you much!

When you pulled your intake manifold were there any deposits or any oil inside? Were the runners in the heads clean or did they have deposits? It's possible you have deposits on your pistons or combustion chambers causing hot spots which in turn can cause preignition and/or detonation.

According to the repair manual, P0330 may be caused by wiring problem (open circuit or short circuit).

Guessing with the fact that the original posters last activity on this site was that very post in 2016, I'm guessing that we will not receive an answer from him.
