Default Custom exhaust question

I am not very knowledgeable about v8's coming from the mitsubishi band camp so this is my question. If you are making a custom exhaust the center piece that connects from the two cats (Y-pipe) is it better for that to be two 2.25-2.5 inch pipes all the way back or would a single 3 inch pipe that y's off at the rear for the mufflers be better? Also please do not say the stock exhaust is better engineered then anything i can come up with or how theres not enough back pressure because there both wrong. I am more curious about the volumetric efficiency of two pipes vs one thanks.

2 2.5" pipes will flow more air than a single 3". Simple math you can do yourself. Area of a circle=radius x radius x 3.14.

Ohhh gotcha thank you yah but i was wondering does one pipe or 2 work better for the center section regardless of size or is the one pipe method make the air to turbulent on its way outv the exhaust? Sorry for the poorly worded question.
