That doesn't sound good since they list for over $200 each, if the one I just replaced peels, I will live with it, or even seriously take some of the vinyl off the original, and package tape it in place.....seriously, nobody is really looking at that but ourselves...until of course it literally becomes a loose flap....just too expensive imho on older cars like ours to keep doing more than one time...

sorry to reply to an old post, but our 2005 LS430 just developed the same problem. Did not realize this even happens, as the older LS400 and GS400 never had it, and the GS400 is still my daily driver. It is a little comforting to know it is a defect and not something caused by bad technique in washing and maintaining the vehicle. Still this is not what you would ever expect from Lexus.

I took a razor knife to trim the loose paint on the door side of the molding. Quite easy and it looks fine. I actually like the look.
